On 24 and 25th November, 2020, the most prominent career expo for qualified staff Career Show 2020 will be held, on which over 150 employers will meet online with candidates, looking for a job and development opportunities. The online event presents a completely new and modern solution through an innovative platform for video interviews, which will be used for the first time in Bulgaria. Employers and candidates will connect via special matchmaking technology, providing a maximum effective experience for the participants. The meetings among job seekers and job presenters will be accompanied by a professional program with high quality and useful content – completely online.

Besides direct job proposals, Career Show 2020 provides development program, sport, IT, high technologies, hobby, and entertainment.

The participation in the event is completely free, but the registration is obligatory. In order to take part in the event, you must meet at least two of the following three criteria: 1. Professional experience – at least 2 years; 2. Higher education – at least bachelor’s degree; 3. foreign languages – excellent command of foreign languages.

A paper on the topic of Covid-19 and the eyes was published in the journal Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology in June. Researchers in Turkey examined 93 hospitalized patients with Covid-19, 20 of whom (21.5%) presented at least one of the following ocular (eye) symptoms:

  • Hyperemia (red eye): 20 (21.5% of patients)
  • Epiphora (excessive tear flow): 9 (9.7% of patients)
  • Increased secretion (of green or yellow eye fluid): 6 (6.5% of patients)
  • Chemosis (swelling of conjunctiva): 3 (3.2% of patients)
  • Follicular conjunctivitis (more severe chemosis): 8 (8.6% of patients)
  • Episcleritis (inflammation of eye sclera): 2 (2.2% of patients)
  • Photophobia (intolerance to light): 15 (16.1% of patients)
  • Itchiness: 13 (15.7% of patients)
  • Burning sensation: 7 (8.4% of patients)
  • Gritty feeling (eye irritation that feels like sand): 5 (6.0% of patients)
  • Blurred vision: 4 (4.8% of patients)

The paper’s authors noted that risk factors for Covid-19 ocular problems were old age, high fever, and elevated biomarkers of systemic inflammation (i.e., neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio, C-reactive protein, and erythrocyte sedimentation rate).

A chess tournament took place on Sept 25 2020, at the NRCB Plovdiv. Visually impaired competitors from the “Izgrev” sports club took part in the event. There were 11 participants. The winners among them received special prizes. The event took place under the required safety precautions.

The NRCB continues with its initiative to organize movies shows, specifically chosen and adapted to be viewed by visually impaired public.
