For the first time in Bulgaria – a social experiment “Dinner in the dark”

On June 26th, 2012, at “History” Restaurant in Plovdiv, the National Rehabilitation for the Blind Center and Cultural Center Museum Trakart held a unique event, unknown to our city until now – “Dinner in the dark”. This social experiment was held under the “Establishment of a Day-time Center for people with disabilities at NRBC” project, sponsored by the “Human Resources Development” Operational Programme. The goal of this activity was that the representatives of the local authorities and the social partners could enter into the world of visually impaired people, experiencing at first hand what it would be like living under the conditions of complete darkness.  Among the guests at the Dinner was the Mayor of the Plovdiv Municipality – eng. I. Totev, the governor of the Plovdiv District – Mr. Z. Dimitrov, representatives of the Agency of Social Assistance, the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, the social services, Lions Club Plovdiv and Rotary Club Plovdiv.

On the same day, at 6 p.m., a Ceramics exhibition was opened at Cultural Center Museum Trakart, located in the Archeological subway /near the Monday Market/. All the exponents of the exhibition were made by visually impaired people from the Day-time center for people with disabilities at NRBC
